Pizza with a Purpose
Pizza with a Purpose - As a reminder, Tuesday October 13 is a professional development day for the CMS staff. Children do not come to school but we are partnering will Reginelli’s on Harrison for Pizza with a Purpose, all day on the 13th. Why not reach out to your child's CMS bestie and have a pizza playdate. Mention CMS when you order and 10% of your order is donated to the school.
The Prepared Parent - Lower Elementary (Language Arts)
We are thrilled to announce our Prepared Parent Series to our CMS parent community. Our Primary and Elementary Mentor teachers are so excited to be presenting Montessori parent education topics again this year and we are hoping that our parents commit to attending one or two on behalf of their children.
On Back-to-School night, our Head of School made a request; to allow us to make the case to you for staying the course with a Montessori education. As the only LMA-accredited 1st – 6th grade in New Orleans, CMS is home to skilled guides who want to show you how they use hands-on Montessori materials to take students from concrete to abstract in all the subject areas.
Elementary and Primary parents are free to visit any of these parent education meetings and we urge you to take advantage of these presentations to dive deep into the Montessori method and see the pedagogy that’s in store for your child as they progress to the next plane of development and classroom.
Our teachers will be sending out invitations with more information and presentation highlights in the coming weeks. So, mark your calendars, and get ready to be amazed.
These are not lectures. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, share ideas, and see the heart of Montessori in action.
Coffee and light refreshments will be provided during the morning sessions.
Aftercare will be provided for the afternoon sessions.

Please join us on Saturday, October 17th, 2026 for our Open House. Experience our culture of grace, courtesy, academic achievement, and exploration. Learn about our Montessori traditions, and discover what connects the diversity of our little community.
Student Portraits - Primary
We are so excited that it's student portrait time once again! At CMS, our school pictures are unique and special just like our students. Each child is given the opportunity to take one standard headshot and several "personality" shots. We hope to capture your child's personality within the portrait and create a beautiful image for you to display in your home and share with your loved ones.
On portrait day we recommend dressing your child in something comfortable that they feel great wearing. Confidence shines through in our photos! Our portraits are black and white, so bold prints or plaids won't be distinguished in the photos and should be avoided if possible. Please also avoid sending your child in graphic tees and/or characters, if possible. Approximately two weeks after the portrait sessions, you will receive a link and password to view, download and order prints of your child.
We have partnered with Minted (Minted.com) to create a fundraising and money-saving opportunity for our CMS community. Please use code: FUNDRAISECAMONTESSORI when ordering cards and you will receive 20% off your purchase plus Minted will donate 10% of your order to Cathedral Montessori School.

Let’s Celebrate Our Founder
Please save this date! Cathedral Montessori School and the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral are inviting all present and past CMS families to a joyous reception honoring our founder, Dr. Billie Andersson, and her many years of devoted service to our school community.
The celebration will take place on Sunday, November 8th, 2026, at 12:00 pm (noon) in the Hellenic Cultural Center located at 1200 Allen Toussaint Blvd., New Orleans. Parents are encouraged to bring their children. Billie will be presented with a commemorative art piece made by the students, serenaded with Greek songs sung by our very own CMS children, and we are so excited to celebrate as one family. We are hoping that all our CMS families will commit to participate in this important event.
An educator and visionary, Billie started Cathedral Montessori School in 2010 because she was a strong believer in the benefits of the Montessori Philosophy. Billie founded CMS to provide children and families in the New Orleans area with the opportunity to learn in a certified Montessori school. All three of Billie's daughters went to Montessori schools.
Refreshments will be served as we gather in unity to show our collective love and gratitude to Billie for all of her work and efforts. Please mark your calendars for this wondrous occasion on November 8th, and look out for more detailed information and RSVP instructions in the coming weeks!
